What sounds like the “Age of Empires Priest-Speech“ is a fast growing community in Berlin, Germany. WOLOHO (= WORK LOVE HOME) strives to bring kind people together so they can help each other to find a home, an inspiring work place, a fantastic job or love. Thanks to Maneki the colorful, simple and flat design with lovely pics from Berlin just looks amazing. The completely responsive and flash-free technical implementation is of course a big plus. If you like what they do, you can support WOLOHO so that they can grow faster and build up communities in other cites – not to mention because they donate half of their proceeds to local charity projects.

The Sicilian is an old-style Italian restaurant located in New South Wales, Australia. As the brand name suggests, the design borrows heavily from the gentlemen’s style of 1940′s gangster films. The guys from Bravo Company Singapore did some great work. The typography of the logo is inspired by engravings on firearms. Have a look at the project on Behance.

Creating an unmistakable identity with illustrations

A brand that stands at the threshold of being launched needs one distinct characteristic: it needs to be noticeable. Ideally this should ensure that the brand is heeded and does not go under before it’s even stood a chance. Another aspect, which is even more vital, is that the brand is visually unique – ideally retaining this attribute for decades. A method often underestimated is putting the illustration in the centre of the visual identity. There is such a wide variety of illustrators and styles that it is possible to reach almost every target market or positioning. The imperative is: ensure that you create an unmistakable brand.

OK, this article isn’t about corporate design — but this artist deserves to be featured. Philipp Lemm aka “Blacklinez” is a great illustrator from Hamburg, Germany and his “dot works” are so detailed, that you need a high resolution retina display to see the entire splendor. The only thing left to say is: spread the word.

“Smart Luxury“ Brand Identity for Hotel Daniel

The talented guys from Moodley Brand Identity just created a new Brand for Hotel Daniel. The Idea: ”Smart Luxury“. As a frequent traveller you have to choose between those foreign furnished middle-class hotel rooms or the over-designed luxury ones. Daniel has added only as much style and luxury as is needed.
